China’s MLPS 2.0 Insights and Alibaba Cloud’s Cybersecurity Solutions for Foreign Companies

Overview
The China Cybersecurity Law (CSL) took effect in June 2017, which is a cornerstone in cybersecurity protection and compliance operation for all companies located in China due to its extensive enforcement scope to all network operators. As a core part under the CSL, Multi-Level Protection Scheme (MLPS), firstly introduced in 2008, provides the detailed implementation and operation requirements. On December 1, 2019, MLPS was further updated to MLPS 2.0, which introduces several new concepts and more detailed rules to support the implementation of the scheme. Alibaba Cloud, as a pioneer and practitioner in MLPS 2.0 implementation, has assured its compliance with MLPS 2.0 by obtaining “Excellent” result in the assessment conducted by the qualified third-party assessor. In addition, Alibaba Cloud also provides relevant cloud security compliance capabilities and guide for our customers to leverage and stay compliant with MLPS 2.0.
